Well the Jeep is now inside the shop as the winter months are coming and it will be easier to work on it in there. Today I started by resanding the fender area since it had a little bit of surface rust on the areas I had sanded before from the rain. I then painted on some rust reformer to the rust areas on the fender to stop the rust from coming back in those areas. I have seen a lot of cars where they are primered and the rust is already bubbling through. This is because the rust was just sanded down and not treated. After the reformer turned black and was dry I applied bondo to the hole in the fender flare and up on top of the fender flare where there was some pitting going on. I let that dry and then went back and sanded it down nice and smooth. After I primer it you will not be able to tell there were problems there. Next my son worked on sand blasting a little bit more in the wheel well with the time we had. I cut out the bad part of the bracket that secured the fender flare to the wheel well, to find out that the area behind was in worse shape then I thought. The final step of the night was the big hole in the back of the fender. I cleaned the area as good as possible and dented in the edges to accept the fiberglass patch as good as possible. I put on the fiberglass patch and then we called it a night. Tomorrow I will finish the repair of the back part of the fender with bondo.
